The city of Breda was an important hub for Dutch beer in the Middle Ages and Breda Beer can trace its roots there back to 1538
In 1807 it was acquired by the Smits van Waesberghe family, that have managed the brewery for 6 generations
The brewery was appointed supplier of the Dutch royal court and won many awards during international beer conferences
As a tribute to its city of origin, the brewery renamed their crafts in 1960 Breda Beer
